Sabrina Jones embodies the spirit of Burleson through her dedication to her real estate career, her commitment to helping others, and her deep appreciation for the community she calls home. I asked her several questions about her thoughts on Burleson and her life, and also to share some wisdom not only for newcomers to Burleson but also for the youth in Burleson. Sabrina's story is one of resilience, ambition, and a profound connection to her community, and I’m excited that she has decided to share it for everyone to hear!
Sabrina is a licensed Realtor whose day-to-day life is filled with balancing professional and personal responsibilities. She spends her mornings dedicating time to her clients, helping them navigate the real estate market to find their perfect homes. The satisfaction she gets from assisting clients, especially single parents, in achieving their dream of homeownership is one of the primary driving forces behind her career. After a day at work, she shifts her focus to her family, ensuring their needs are met. The balance she exhibits between professional duties and family life wonderfully underscores her dedication to both her career and the people she loves.
As mentioned previously, Sabrina derives great satisfaction from assisting clients, especially single parents. However, this is not just a function of her job but a significant passion in her life. She has faced and overcome substantial personal challenges, including living through abuse. She wants to share her journey with others to inspire them and provide support. These experiences have shaped her into a compassionate and deeply driven individual who strives to make a positive impact on those around her.
She has also faced personal adversity with her health, recently undergoing brain surgery to remove a tumor. The tumor had been present in Sabrina’s brain for several years, but since it was not growing and not causing many problems, the decision was made to monitor it. However, in 2023, the tumor began to grow, causing severe issues such as memory loss, speech difficulty, and intense headaches. After consulting with a neurologist around Halloween, the decision was made to operate and remove the tumor. Amazingly, the surgery went perfectly, and she is now well on her way to a full recovery.
Sabrina has lived in Burleson for a total of seventeen years. The city’s blend of small-town charm and modern amenities has kept her wanting to stay and maintain roots here. She recalls a time when Burleson lacked many of the conveniences it has today, such as Hobby Lobby and H-E-B. Being a resident for those seventeen years, Sabrina has witnessed a lot of evolution within Burleson firsthand. Although the city continues to grow, she loves that it has retained a close-knit community feel and appreciates all the work that has gone into preserving that atmosphere.
Some of her favorite times in the city are when local events bring the community together, including the “Hot Sounds of Summer” concert series and the Christmas parade. She also enjoys the spectacular Christmas drone light show. These events not only provide entertainment for those in attendance but also foster a sense of unity and celebration among the residents, preserving the small-town atmosphere that Sabrina loves about Burleson. One of her most cherished memories is that drone show at 2023's Christmas parade. Describing it as "epic," she fondly recalls the awe and excitement it brought to the community.
When asked about her favorite places in the city, Sabrina mentioned several spots. Among her favorites are Bailey Lake, the Old Town area, LifeGate Church, The Brewery, and Jellystone Park. Each of these places holds special significance for her, offering a mix of natural beauty, community gatherings, spiritual enrichment, and family-friendly activities.
Another facet of Sabrina’s life in Burleson is her active participation in various community activities. She attends weekly meetings with her real estate group every Thursday morning to stay connected with peers and stay updated on industry trends that affect not only the entire state but also Burleson. She is also very involved with life groups through her church, LifeGate, which provides her with spiritual support and further strengthens her connection with the community. Recently, Sabrina participated in a food drive with Keller Williams to benefit the local Harvest House, helping to organize and ensure a fantastic turnout.
There is a popular application among the blind and vision-impaired population called Be My Eyes. This innovative app connects blind and low-vision individuals with sighted volunteers through live video calls, allowing them to receive assistance with everyday tasks. These tasks can range from reading labels on packages, preparing meals, and selecting clothes, to navigating new environments and troubleshooting technology. Volunteers like Sabrina provide crucial visual assistance, making these activities more manageable and less stressful for those who need help. Sabrina spends a significant amount of time helping as many people as possible through this app, demonstrating her dedication to supporting those in need.
For people currently moving into Burleson or planning to, her advice is to embrace the friendliness of Burleson’s residents and get involved in local activities. She believes that participating in community events and being open to meeting new people are key to feeling even more at home in Burleson. To the younger residents of Burleson, Sabrina advises taking care of the city and appreciating it for what it is. She encourages them not to be in a hurry to leave, as they might miss out on the special moments and connections that make life meaningful and enjoyable.
One of her biggest hopes for the future is that while Burleson continues to grow, it doesn't lose its community spirit. She would love to see more family-oriented activities in the city, as well as Zumba and yoga classes to promote greater health and wellness among its residents. She believes that these additions would not only enhance the residents’ quality of life but also offer further opportunities to engage with their community and fellow residents.
For fun, I asked Sabrina who the most famous person she has ever met was. She mentioned meeting Rafael Palmeiro, a former MLB first baseman who played for the Chicago Cubs, Texas Rangers, and Baltimore Orioles between 1986 and 2005. This encounter happened at one of the Hot Sounds of Summer events put on by the city. The surprise meeting made her experience at the event even more special.
Sabrina’s responses to the questions I asked her paint a vivid picture of living in Burleson and highlights her personal growth, community involvement, and deep love for the city’s traditions and amenities. Her commitment to her clients, her family, and her community is just part of what makes her a great Burleson resident. She exemplifies the type of people that Burleson is lucky to have. As the city continues to grow and evolve, having residents like Sabrina will undoubtedly play a crucial role in preserving the small-town charm and making Burleson a truly wonderful place to live and call home.
